The short answer: Acuity Scheduling was named more often

On October 24, 2026, Acuity Scheduling was named in 8 of 10 answers. Calendly was named in 6 of 10, for a visibility score of 54/100. The gap came almost entirely from ChatGPT: Calendly was named in 4 of 5 Gemini answers but only 2 of 5 ChatGPT answers, while Acuity was named in 4 of 5 on each engine.

Neither tool appeared in either engine's answer to the fifth question, about reporting on employee availability. Both engines treated that as a shift-scheduling question and named tools like Deputy, Connecteam, 7shifts, When I Work, Planday and Sling instead.

Question by question

Gemini was kind to Calendly. It ranked Calendly #1 for "Which scheduling software offers the easiest user interface for clients to book appointments online?", #2 for service-based businesses managing client appointments, #3 for customer support for small teams, and #5 for payment integrations.

ChatGPT was a different story. It named Calendly at #2 for customer support for small teams, and mentioned it in its payment-integrations answer without placing it in the ranked list. For service-based businesses it named Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Acuity Scheduling and Square Appointments. For the easiest booking interface it named Setmore, SimplyBook.me, Appointlet, Acuity Scheduling and Trafft. Calendly was left out of both, and Acuity was named in both.

Who else AI recommends for small-business scheduling

After Acuity Scheduling (8 answers), the most-named tools were Setmore (5) and Square Appointments (4), then Connecteam and SimplyBook.me (2 each). Paperform, HoneyBook, vcita, YouCanBook.me, Appointlet, Trafft, SavvyCal, HubSpot's meeting tool and Cal.com each came up once. Cal.com, often pitched as the open-source Calendly alternative, was named only by Gemini, in its payment-integrations answer.

So a small-business owner asking AI for a booking tool sees Acuity on almost every shortlist, Setmore and Square Appointments often, and Calendly most of the time on Gemini but rarely on ChatGPT.

Why Acuity shows up more

The cited sources give part of the answer. The most-cited domains were jotform.com, beltstack.com, hicira.com and setmore.com (3 citations each), then paubox.com, meetergo.com, techradar.com and agiled.app (2 each). These are mostly roundups and comparison articles, plus Setmore's own pages, which helps explain why Setmore was named in half the answers.

Calendly's own site, calendly.com, was not among the top cited sources in this check. The questions were also framed around appointments with clients, payments and service businesses, the use cases where Acuity and Setmore position themselves, rather than internal meetings, where Calendly is strongest. How a buyer phrases the question shapes the shortlist.

What a challenger brand can learn from this

Match the buyer's words. If your customers ask about "appointments", "clients" and "payments", your pages should answer those exact questions, not just describe features.

Get onto the roundups AI cites. In this category that meant comparison posts on sites like Jotform, TechRadar and smaller software blogs. Setmore's own pages being cited three times shows that a vendor's guides can be quoted too.
